Dear <<First Name>>,

Gov. Janet Mills wants to make it much easier for Maine's swelling population of illegal immigrants to get rent-free luxury apartments. But that's not all. She also wants to provide them with free legal representation in the event they face deportation proceedings when their bogus asylum claims are dismissed.

Mills' proposal to create an alien resettlement agency in the executive branch of state government (LD 2167) is a Pandora's Box of freebies for foreigners. If enacted, it will plug Maine into a network of George Soros-funded open-borders organizations with legions of Leftist lawyers prepared to litigate on behalf of the estimated 8,000 to 10,000 unvetted foreign nationals who have settled in Maine since Janet Mills took office in 2019.

I'm writing today to ask you to contact your state Rep to insist on a NO vote when LD 2167 comes before the House. That vote could happen this week or next week -- or next month. The timing is totally at the discretion of Madam Speaker.

My advice is to keep your remarks brief, polite, and to the point. And if you're so inclined, tell your Rep this bill is a deal-breaker for you. Under no circumstances would you ever vote for a candidate who had any part in creating a new magnet to attract illegal immigrants to settle in Maine at taxpayer expense.

For talking points, check out the testimony I delivered at the public hearing on LD 2167 HERE, and the testimony of Maine First Project's executive director Zach Gelpey HERE. Sadly, no other conservative organization presented testimony either in person or online.

For a more detailed analysis of what's at stake if LD 2167 is enacted, check out my op-ed column in The Maine Wire:

Biden's Open Border and Mills' Migrant Resettlement Agency a Bad Recipe for Mainers: Lockman - The Maine Wire

Make no mistake: if LD 2167 becomes law, the current practice of shoving lifelong Mainers to the back of the line to make way for illegal immigrants will be streamlined and accelerated by a new bureaucracy in the executive branch of state government.

Maine taxpayers are already paying the illegals' monthly rent for brand-new apartments in Brunswick, Portland, and South Portland -- housing that was set aside exclusively for so-called "asylum seekers." Meanwhile, more than 20,000 Mainers languish on affordable housing waitlists, many for five to seven years or more.

The last thing Maine needs is another magnet to attract more unvetted foreign nationals to settle here. You don't need a PhD in economics to understand what the outcome will be for Mainers from Kennebunk to Caribou: higher rents and lower wages.

Thanks in advance for reaching out to your state Representative, and encouraging family members and friends to do the same.

Best Regards,

Hon. Lawrence Lockman

PS
Janet Mills doesn't care how many lifelong Mainers are pushed to the back of the waitlist line to make way for another wave of illegal immigrants looking for rent-free apartments. Instead of using her bully pulpit to discourage the border-crashers from choosing Maine as their preferred destination, she has worked to turn our state into a migrant magnet.

LD 2167 is the embodiment of her Foreigners First bias.
